音に関わるビジネス

喋るVocaloidoのニュースを目にした時、スウェーデンで百年以上にわたって音に関わる様々なビジネスを展開してきたIrisグループの活動を思った。1800年代後半の労働者運動に端を発した、聴覚障害者によるブラシ製作活動から始まり、新聞、雑誌などの音声サービス、カセット本、オーディオ本 (CD, MP3/Daisy)、デジタル本制作、音声図書館、補助器具販売、教育訓練サービス、ハンディクラフト・ショップや暗闇レストランの運営など、今では関連7社を傘下にもつグループ企業になっている。

2009年には良質のオーディオ本に授与されるIrisオーディオブック賞が創設され、2008年のアウグスト賞受賞作を作者のPer Olov Enquist自身が読んだ"Ett Annat Liv"が最初の受賞作に選ばれている。

いつか初音ミクが児童童話や文学作品を読んでくれれば楽しいだろう。

Vad är en "Skogsflicka"? Ny gammal trend i Japan.

Detta är mitt första blogginlägg på svenska. Vad jag skulle vilja presentera i dag handlar om "Mori girl (森ガール)" i Japan. "Mori girl"  betyder "Skogsflicka".

När @micanaitoh, en japanska författare har postat en kort kommentar om "Mori girl", drog den först min uppmärksamhet. Hon hoppas att hennes dotter kommer att bli en skogsflicka, eftersom hon älskar Ikea.

Vilken typ av tjej är en skogsflicka? Termen användes ursprungligen av en japansk community som tillhör "Mixi". Enligt denna communitys grundare, finns det några typiska egenskaper hos medlemmarna. Låt mig ge några exempel.

hon älskar Scandinaviskt mode.
hon uppfattas som en typisk skogstjej av sina vänner.
hon har en mjuk atmosfär.
hon är relaxed.
hon attraheras av gamla föremål.
hon älskar djurmotiv.
hon älskar mönster med rutor och prickar.
hon älskar sagor.
hon älskar lugna caféstunder.
hon älskar att promenera och fotografera.
hon blir lycklig när hon hittar en underbar bok.
hon älskar att besöka möbelaffärer.
hon älskar hösten och vintern.

Låter det bekant? Ja, det verkar som om många unga japanska flickor älskar den skandinaviska livsstilen. "Mori girl" community i Mixi har nu mer än 36.000 medlemmar och en tidskrift med samma namn lanserades i oktober av Papier. 森ガールpapier* vol.1  Enligt X Brand,   behöver en "skogsflicka" inte vara supercool, supersöt (kawaii), supergorgeous eller superenkel utan det räcker med att vara "lagom".

海外ブログのオタク文化

Diggのスウェーデン版ともいえるPushaで、若い人たちがブログでどんなことを話題にしているのか、検索ワードを色々入れて探ってみた。日本のマンガやアニメのブログが結構あるのは予想の範囲だったが、頻繁に投稿しているらしいThais Animebloggを見ていて、そのオタク振りに感激してしまった。もっとも私自身がオタク文化を語れるほど知っているわけではないのだが、感激したのはスウェーデン語で書かれているこのブロガーの自己紹介に、自分は両親や弟と一緒にフィンランドに16年住んでいる17歳のベトナム人で、マンガやアニメ、Jポップ、日本文化に興味があるとあったからだ。どのようないきさつでこの少年の現在があるか詳しくは分からないが、17歳といえば多感な青春真っ盛りの時期、自分のアイデンティティーを求める過程で、日本のポップカルチャーにアジアの強烈な香りを嗅ぎ取ったのかもしれない。改めて、日本のポップカルチャーが持つ影響力を感じさせられた。

スウェーデンDN紙の村上春樹インタビュー記事

毎週土曜日のDN紙文化版には本特集 (Boklördag) があり、内外の作家達のインタビューや書評、盛りだくさんの本に関するニュースが載せられ、週末の朝の楽しみになっている。今日5月24日のKultur版表紙は｢日本のスパースター｣村上春樹が飾っている。インタビューはほとんど受けないという作家だが、DN紙が東京の表参道裏の事務所で独占インタビューを行ない、36ｶ国語に翻訳され最も読まれているアジアの｢グローバルな日本人｣作家として紹介している。

Make avatar from your photo!

Although this blog is presenting various information about Scandinavia (Hokuo in Japanese), I sometimes feel a strong urge to introduce interesting Japanese web services when I find them. For instance, kaome.net(a) is one of them. This free service makes your photo to your own avatar which can be used as your profile sticker. Just send your photo (less than 100kb) as your email attachement and wait for about 10 min. (it may take longer because the site receives 100,000 photos per day) before you will receive your avatar by return. But remember that your age should be the title of your email message and email format will be opened by pressing the pink button if you are female. When you receive your avatar, save it in your file within an hour because it will be automatically deleted together with your original photo.

Kaochara.jp (b) and moeruavatar.com (c) are another avatar creation sites. AbiStudio.com is managing services of (a)&(c) and Matsushita Electric is providing the service (b).

Social language learning service, iKnow!

iKnow! is a social language learning service developped by Cerego. The site was first served for Japanese companies who want to provide their employees with English lessons but since it is opened free to consumers in Oct. 2007, more than 100,000 users registered in 5 months. You can read the English report by Tokyotronic. iKnow is planning to launch Japanese lesson this summer and Chinese lesson within this year.

Handwriting blog（手がきブログ）: launched in Nov. 2007. The number of registered users reached 50,000 in 4 months and page views per day are more than 2 millions.
Blackbord （こくばん.in): launched in Feb. 24, 2008. You can use only 6 colors which challenge your creativity. There is also the mobile site.

Jero - Lennart in Japan

Jero is an Enka singer in Japan. Enka is one of Japanese popular music genre with very melancholic melody. Jero caught peoples heart as soon as he made his debut in Feb. 2008. It´s a big breakthrough in Enka history.

こちらは演歌ならぬスウェーデンのダンスミュージックバンドの歌手になるのを夢見ているLennart。2007年スウェーデンTVのシリーズとして放送され人気になった番組"Leende guldbruna ögon"（微笑む黄金の茶色の目-有名なダンスバンドの曲名がタイトルになっている）の一場面。allsång｢皆の歌｣ はストックホルムのユールゴーデン島にある野外民族博物館スカンセンで毎年夏に数回開催されている皆で歌う集い。人気歌手が登場するのでスウェーデン各地から人が集まる。

Pixiv - Japanese illustration site

For those who are interested in illustrations, I found a Japanese SNS for illustrations called Pixiv, launched in September, 2007. The number of registered users reached 100,000 in March 2008 according to ITmedia News. It seems to be very popular. Though it´s written only in Japanese so far, you can easily register yourself with your email address except hotmail and mobile mail address. Use your imagination and try!

桐野夏生｢Out｣のスウェーデン語とノルウェー語訳

2008年2月16日のDN紙に桐野夏生の大きな写真入りで、｢Out｣のスウェーデン語訳（2007年）｢FRI｣が紹介されている。（ノルウェー語訳のタイトルは｢UTE｣、｢グロテスク｣のノルウェー語訳も出ている。）見出しは｢女達が逆襲する｣。記事の元になっているインタビューが実現するまでに、英語版の代理店、日本側の代理店を通し3ヶ月かかったらしい。日本の"feminist noir"と称されている作家は、Van Morrisonにコンタクトするのと同じくらい難しかったと。スウェーデンの本のブログBokhoraでも取り上げられており、衝撃的だが引き付けられている様子がうかがえる。静かなブームになりそうな予感。

The relation between "Hatsune Miku" and Finnish "Loituma"

Let´s me share some more findings about "Hatsune Miku".
1. Basic fact
Hatsune Miku is a virtual singer using the synthesizer application called Vocaloid2 which was originally developed by Yamaha. In January 2007, Crypton Future Media, Japan has released Hatsune Miku with license and sold 15,000 units in less than 2 months. It was a big hit in this category of product.

2. What´s the relation between Hatsune Miku and Finnish music group, Loituma? It started with a video clip of Japanese animation "Bleach" featuring Loitumas music. Characteristic sounds of Ieva´s Polka became popular among video & graphic creators and variety of videos featuring the music have been uploaded on the community networks like YouTube and Japanese Niconico Douga. Hatsune Miku is one of them singing Ieva´s Polka with a leek in hand.

3. The girl spinning a leek, later named "Loituma girl", comes from an episode from Japanese animation "Bleach". For your information, leeks (purjolök) recently distributed to bloggers in Sweden by a swedish publisher in order to promote their new book, seems to have nothing to do with this leek spinning phenomena. 4. When a Japanese company started to sell a small (100 mm high ) figure of Hatsune Miku, the company instantly received more than 10,000 orders through Amazon.

5. Newly introduced virtual singers are twins called Kagamine Rin & Len.


6. Two original songs by Hatsune Miku are now on sale as Karaoke through JoySound.

7. Opening of the new community site, PiaPro was announced today. There you can present your own music or graphics using Hatsune Miku and the new twin characters.
Unfortunately the application programs are only available in Japan.

What is Hatsune Miku? I have seen the term "Hatsune Miku" covered by Japanese media intensively for the last couple of weeks. Sometimes it is very difficult even for a Japanese to know exactly what is happening in Japan, especially the hottest pop-culture among young Japanese people.
